Human Trafficking: Student Motion Graphics video on Human Rights, Y2

2014 Motion Graphics exercise by second year students Rea Chaudhuri and Preetish Jayarajan at the Supinfocom Rubika Animation School at the DSK International Campus in Pune, India.

The brief was to create a short Motion Graphics piece on a chosen theme related to human rights. Research, scripting, storyboarding, graphic and sound design was part of the expected pre production to be generated by them before greenlight for production. They had to generate the project from scratch in two weeks. Teamwork was paramount and taken as one of the main criteria for evaluation.

There are more than 30 million victims of human trafficking that exists in the world today, that’s more than the population of New York + Hong Kong.

We have more slaves today than at any other point in history.

Back then (1809) the average price for a slave was $40,000 in today’s prices. Today you can buy a slave for $140. This contributes to a $35billion trafficking industry, that if placed on the list of fortune 500 would be at #97, thats above McDonald’s and Nike. 80% of these slaves are women and 50% of them children.

So what can we do about it?

Prevent- trafficking by spreading awareness
Protect- victims that you see in need
Prosecute- offenders through the help of your government

This forms the 3P’s of the UNODC’s anti trafficking policy. You cant put a price tag on life. Stop modern day slavery. To know more log onto www.unodc.org
