When we opened our studio, Totuma Communications + Design, This piece came as a founding visual manifesto of who we were, what we were doing and the reasons behind all of it. At the time the Cable industry was still an emergent market, but it was being provided by North American Studios with a distant view of our local reality. We set ourselves to be the guides to adapt, to translate this wave of globalization into the local cultural landscape.
We were a collective mind, and our manifesto rotated around or fused heads, in a style that brought together the primitive and local identity with the contemporary worldview, saying, “We’re Latin america. We know Latin america. We understand the magic realism of existing in this latitudes, in this culture. We know how to communicate with this diversity of people that speak spanish and feels in many different ways. A fusion of race, history and culture.”
